I love using different materials like credit cards, small brushes, spray paint and tape. I use paint on canvases, design flyers, and work on projects with other artists including musicians. I have been exploring cities and meeting other artists. Through my exploration and meeting new people I have connected on many levels of life. Art is not just playing with materials anymore, its a big part of my life that is inspiring people in their lives teaching kids art.

Awesomeness

Teaching at Camarillo Charter Cape school, I began my first art class today November 2, 2010. It didn't even feel like teaching a class, it was so amazing to see kids follow directions. I explained how I create my artwork and showed them an example. Todays first art class was rewarding and I look forward to working on more to come. I have a new collection of artworx "The Funk" that is up at Merdians in Ventura Ca. Today was a day of new inspiration and had me look at how fortunate I am, being able to do art and teach about it. What to expect from me this fall: New hats, new shirts, and possibly a few hoodies for the brisk winter we sure have!

He rides for Fox and is a talented guy in the surf industry and coaches young surf kids for Red Bull. Sean is awesome and he had everything to do with my website and his wife and one of my best friends has done wonders with my art, she has shot many pieces of my artwork over the years. Here is a photo of the surfboard...

The journey began in 2002.........JN ARTWORX 2010

Ben Crase one of my best friends turned my path into this wonderful amazing gift of creativity with paint that I never had know I had. Ben is an amazing individual that has done wonders in my life. A little bit about Ben, like I said someone you can count on, able to talk to you when everything is falling apart, available to be there when he was needed, very gifted and talented in all things, hands down, I cannot define any of us as individuals but Ben is an awesome friend and person. Ben is currently creative in his career as a hair stylist who creates from within. He also is an amazing artist that has created a imaginative style of painting and sewing in his artistic movement. If you are looking for an awesome stylist and you live in the area of San Diego you can see him at Hyde Edwards Salon in Little Italy on Kettner Ave. I am all about people who move us and that care about others no matter who we are and who has a big heart to share. I will always be inspired by Ben in all things that he does.
Art has been an opportunity in my life and I was able to open my eyes to a wonderful aspect of it. I painted my first painting with Ben. He introduced me to mixing 3 colors to make something I truly cherish forever. This painting is close to my heart partly because it was my first and also because a lot of what was on my mind at the time is inside this piece.
I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend time with Mark Hoppus of Blink - 182 and was surrounded by their band and many wonderful people that I still am in contact with almost 8 years later. The first painting was life changing and I was able to share it it with many friends. I used 3 colors that were inspired by my time spent with Blink -182. Bright Pink, turquoise, and white. I was and am currently a Blink fan and those colors represented their album cover.
While painting during that afternoon on a rainy day, my mind had been wondering on a path of unknown. It was a pleasant day in Del Mar. I sat in our living room with fresh air, a best friend, and music to listen to while I was starting to paint something that had changed my life forever. The moment began with casual music by Radiohead and a random shuffle of music we enjoyed that moved us. As I was painting Ben observed me and had asked, Hey looks like you are having a good time, I said yes this feeling I have is something I truly enjoy...Thank you so much for introducing me to a paintbrush and a canvas. I love to play golf and I had this feeling of awe when I connected my golf club to the golfball and I enjoyed watching the flight of the ball to see where it would land. While painting I have no idea what I will create but while painting I had that exact same feeling and I still have the same feeling now in all of my paintings.
This blog will continue to talk about other people that have inspired me in my life on my path. Our paths have so many directions. I found that it is important is to open up our eyes to see what is right in front of us. I am big on networking and art has opened many doors of opportunity and began new relationships with many people in my life. 10 years ago I would have not imagined I would have been a part owner of an art gallery, or traveling to show and sell my own artwork, I would have said that I would be working in a business environment somewhere because that is what I enjoy. I can say that I am happy to be right where I am right now. This would not have been possible if I hadn't been in that one moment of time where Ben introduced me to art. He knew me so well that in his thoughts or eyes I would truly enjoy painting. I took that step and at that moment in time 8 years ago, I wanted nothing to do with going to the art store with Ben and buying a canvas and paint. I look back now and say to myself, "well I made a decision to do something new and it has been a wonderful ride."
I have been fortunate because I have not had any education or learning of art, I am self taught. I have a big heart and very open to new things, meeting new people and helping others in any way that I can. So thank you to all of you that have helped me and supported me on my path that I truly cherish it means the world to me.
So after reading this blog I hope that if any of you out there have something you enjoy in your life or want to try something get to it. We are all here to enjoy our lives in some way and I am sure a lot of you are doing so now. I am here for you if you have any questions on something you would like to do that you aren't too sure of. This may seem to be all about my art, but its really about all of us and what we choose to do with our lives. I can say that I do know that all of us have gifts of some form and each of you are able to try something new and see it move forward. I want to help others along the way on my path and by creating artwork has enabled me to do so.
One last thing, I am currently working on building my own business with my art. I am hand painting baseball caps, making clothing, and persuing art shows with many great artists. It is a new niche and path for me to move forward with my art, meeting new people and pressing forward with a driving business. I have had an amazing time recently where my hats have been in some fashion shows. To be known as the designer of hats is something so special to me I want to thank you all for making that possible. Until the next blog of so much to say, thank you for being apart of my art career and my life.......Let's all get excited about life and move this blog forward to interaction of people communicating, creating, and adding this page that will inspire you all the time........

H.O.W. Foundation and JN ARTWORX

$5 dollars from each hat will be going to this foundation:
H.O.W. Helping Others Worldwide. Helping Others Worldwide (HOW) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to assisting people in need by distributing donated items worldwide to help fulfill the basic requirements of our brothers and sisters living in impoverished conditions. Having met basic needs, we offer programs that facilitate self-empowerment and sustainability by proactively identifying market needs and developing practical solutions with our volunteers and strategic partnerships. I wanted to help children that are less fortunate and be able to lend some form of support and love, and the best thing about this foundation, it found me and my heart is set out to help them with more of an opportunity in their lives.

My busy week
So I just came back from a little trip to San Diego. I have a showroom in San Diego, its in a store called Sudbury Flooring on 3152 5th Ave 92103. Drove down there last monday took about 3 hours because of the rain. The best part of the trip was opening my cambucha drink having it spill all over my lap! I was in orange county at the time. Trying to figure if I should pull over and change or just flip on the air to dry me out? Otherwise my brand new Vulgar Villains Sweatshirt was wet and I thought it would stain......I kept on my way and learned a lesson about the cambucha drink, it can't be shaken up....So I made it to San Diego and met up with the store owner, Jared Sudbury and he took me to lunch.
Then after lunch we went to the showroom and it was nice. I was dry by then and we moved around some artwork. He had a nice check for a few pieces that sold in a time frame of 3 months, pretty good for only being open for 3 months. Had a few days to meet up with friends, shoot some photography, and eat some great food. If you live in San Diego you should go have sushi at ONO on University in Hillcrest, if you like breakfast there is the Menu on Ingrahm Rd in Pacific Beach. I gave a few pieces of artwork away to a un-named designer firm to promote my artwork that was really fun to do! Then the last day I spent with a wonderful friend, enjoy the moments you have with people and let them know you care for them. I came back home to Ventura where I live and decided to get back to painting. I had a friend of mine give me a canvas and wanted me to create something for his office. My trip to San Diego helped me and inspired me. I love it and can't wait to deliver it and hang it up!
It was on a piece of wood about 24 x 40. I used 3 cans of spray paint, tape, and 2 cans of oil based paint. It is black, gold, silver, and gray...........
